Re: ADAM'S TONGUE--EXCERPT
by Philip Harber
Dear Derek It is Philip from Birmingham and Cambridge. Congrats on getting Cantab to give you a well-deserved Doctorate! I am writing from Brazil (home of the Creole of Amapa), but remembering you in Barbados..where I taught at Harrison College when you were at Lodge. You were kind enough to invite me to your home when my daughter was being born in 1960--and I was excluded form the nursing home! I have followed your academic progress closely as I travelled from Barbados to Canada, to teach French anad Spanish and study in Montreal,New Brunswick, Boston, and Toronto. My library is now in Canada but I am in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil, in another culture! I kept using your theories to accompany the courses I took in language teaching and bibliographies, but now am away from the main stream of research, although the internet is available. I am reading the continuing arguments on the net and shall write to you again. My e-mail is harberpk@gmail.com. How is your family--I see you have an artist! My (second) wife in Brazil is an artist and writer and she is teaching me to draw and paint. Philip K Harber
